Hello and Welcome!
As my daily business is mostly related to sewing and second hand dealing, I'll be sharing with you my latest projects and ideas for sewing to sell. You'll learn to repair and alter clothes, construct new garments, and even upcycle some treasures from the Op Shops. As part of my second hand dealing, I've been enjoying ways to repurpose things long forgotten and unwanted, so you'll get to see what I'm doing with these previously unloved items.
I love to get feedback, and am happy to try new things, so feel free to make requests for any video content that you'd like me to do. My list is ever growing, and about six pages long so far, but I'll get there eventually.
My partner Chris and I previously enjoyed a low carb lifestyle. All the recipes are tried and tested by me, whilst Chris gets to be my guinea pig.

How to sew a double zippered boxed pouch DIY back to back boxy bag two sides fully lined no bindings
Love your tips. I just bought labels from winder labels that you recommended
years ago i made a cushion using this method, i love the idea of making a pouch
A cushion would look amazing in this style😁
The hangers from the upholstery sample would be good for hanging up a toiletry bag as well. Just a thought. Happy Sewing!!
That's a great idea Shel. I must try it😁
Those turned out really great! Love knowing that I am batch sewing the best way. Another fabulous video.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks so much Debbie😊
I want the blue one lol 🪡🪡🪡🪡👝👝👝😁🥰🥰🥰🥰
Yes, that is a nice colour Joy. My favourite is the orange & yellow😁
Make a travel, fold up, toiletry bag or make-up kit (you know the kind, with the little zippered sections?) and use your hooks for the hangers!
That's a good idea Sharon. I'll have to think on that one😁
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs for those playing at home, maybe show how they could use those annoying tiny hangers that come with underwear and so on? (With appropriate warnings about weight, of course!)
I going to make these for my neighbors this year. Plan to put their initial or monogram on the front. Fingers crossed. Waiting for my health to get a second wind. lol. Thanks for all the terrific project ideas you share with us. ❤
The monogram would be a lovely touch Cyn. I hope your health improves quickly😊
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Thanks. It’s just old age but I’m fighting it. Never give in, never give up! Lol
Love all the colours they look great, thank you as always love your work and look forward to seeing your next the video.😊
Thanks Erica, and thanks so much for the coffees 😊
Can you please do a video on how to do a fleecy hat, with calculations and measurements for shaping the head. Thank you so much.
Great suggestion Nirmala😊
Hi Christine, An awesome video, yet again. Thank you. 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it Dianne. Thank you😊
Love your tutorials and how you explain your work process. Beautiful bags!
Thank you so much Laura😁
As always very clear instructions and great advice, thank you, Christine, oh and old camera position is a better angle,
Thanks Faye. I'll change it back😁
You always give the very best tutorials! Thank you for that. Either camera angle was good for me. I'm kind of wondering if boxed corners can be done with French seams?
Thank you Patricia. If you do boxed corners with French seams, I would leave the ears as they are and not cut them off. Alternatively you could cut them, then French seam them😁
I think a shoe bag with the hook is a great idea if you can manage it!
I'll give it a go Patricia😁
Another great tutorial Christine, thanks. Ps I think I prefer the old camera position 😅
Thanks Teddy. I'll change it back😁
Maybe you could make a peg with the hook.
That's a good idea Sandy😁
Please, can you tell me how to change the language to English?
I don't remember how to do that, but there is a Facebook group for Jack sewing machines in Australia. If you join that, they can help there😁
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs thank you very much for your information
I prefer the previous camera position. I find the position of the camera awkward.
Thanks Ann. I'll change it back😁
Lovely bags and very interesting about the sales.😊
Thank you Eve😁
Great bags! I also preferred the other camera angle, it made it clear where you are sewing, and then when you explain things ( like with the lining around the zip) I can see better and understand what you’re taking about. Love your videos Christine. Thank you.
Thanks Trenna. I'll change it back for the next video😁
So lovely ❤
Thank you Anita😁
I loved this video, but, like you I don't like the exposed zipper tape, could you perhaps do a tutorial making this style of bag with you normal tabbed zip? I'm watching on You Tube from The Isle of Wight in England UK
Thanks Katrina. I'm not sure how the tabs would work for this one, but I did a video with two other alternatives a week later that might help. 😁
You could also try to use the hooks in a bag for clothes pegs/pins.
That's a great idea Tina. Thank you😁
Love the fabric combinations of each bag. So handy having that decided for you. Camera angle good either way your verbal explanations are really clear, anyway. Thanks again and bulk method always fascinating to watch x
Thanks Susan. Swatch samples always take the guesswork out of fabric matching😁
Where do you get the fabric swatches?
Joey, check out the video I did last week for free fabric. It'll give you some ideas😁
I love your video! I do however use a different technique for the boxed corners. When you have marked all 4 corners, cut out the area marked. Then you have access to both seams so they can be lined up neatly. When the seam as are aligned sew as usual. It saves the time getting seams straight. ❤ Thank you for such clearly given directions . 🎉
That's a great tip Nancy. Thank you😁

Clothes pin bag
Great idea Freida😁
I liked the camera better when it was to the right side. That detail of folding under the excess of the lining was easier to understand and see on your last video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Cynthia. It seems to be the preferred option. I'll change it back for the next video😁
I haven’t tried your shoe totes yet, but I like the idea of making them hang with the hooks. I always like things I can hang up.
Thanks kay. I'll give it a go soon😁
Hand Sanitizer is good for getting sticky glue off of glass, plastic, and hands. I have used hand sanitizer to get fresh red ink out of the carpet. DW-40 also works very well in dissolving sticky glue; but, you have to wash the item with soap and hot water after the glue is dissolved to remove the DW-40 and the dissolved glue. .
Thanks Arvetta. I'll give the sanitiser a go. I have plenty left over😁
Does it slip on vynol when you are sewing? If you understand what I mean 😊
Pauline, to sew the vinyl, get yourself a teflon foot for your machine. It will make life so much easier. A walking foot can work too, but the teflon foot is much better😁
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs thank you for advice, just ordered one.
No problem with the camera angle though it might be helpful to have a close up view for any detail. Is the waste landfill or does it get incinerated? Nice bags too. Maybe mask the staple holes with rivets or grommets as a design feature.
Thanks Duncan. The waste here goes to landfill. 😁
Wonderful tips in this video. Always seem to learn something and enjoy watching you!
Thank you Diana😁
The last statement made me think of when I went to a craft fair and I was selling bowl cozies. A woman came by and just kept saying how someone was selling them cheaper at another craft fair. I told her that was my price. At the end of the fair, I sold most of them. Never listen to naysayers. They were my best seller.
Yes, follow your head Melanie. I used to get upset by the naysayers, but hardened up and have learned to trust my own instincts and value my time😁
Previous camera angle is clearer as to what’s happening under the needle. Thanks again for another great video Christine.
Thanks Penny. I'll change it back😁
They are beautiful. Thank u for the tips. Love your videos. 🎉
Thank you Eileen😁
Thanks, Christine! I’ve used Dritz brand but disappointed in its holding power. So i’ve just put Hotop in my amazon cart, 3 spools of 22yds each and 1/4” wide for 8.99 USD. Thank you again! Nancy from Missouri
I've had the same problem with the Dritz Nancy. The Hotop when you can get it is the way to go😁
I didnt mind the camera positions before OR currently.... so I think whichever works best is fine. By the way, I found a use for the heavy cardboard used in making the upholstery display books. I've made tote bags using pieces of that as a stiffener in the bottom of the tote. Just sew a "sleeve" of the same fabric as the lining, slide in the heavy cardboard, and place in bag bottom. Thanks for your videos. I enjoy them a lot!!
Thanks Brenda. I've been thinking of doing that for my bags too. I still have plenty of old pieces from previous bags that I've kept😁
Thank you another fab crystal clear instructive video... And thank for the chat at the end...I am starting a business and lack confidence but you give me the kindly kick and boost I need Thank you x
I’m in same boat as you, Tracy! I need some more self-confidence to make a “go” of it but also realize i should just jump right in and try. Thank you, Christine for that push to just jump in and try!!
My pleasure Tracy. Good luck starting your new business😁
Jump right in at the deep end Nancy. I always do😁
I think I prefer the camera the other way. You can see the presser foot better.
Thanks Pat. I'll be changing it back😁
As long as you do not have an excessive amount of glue on paper and poster board, you can recycle them with paper. However, if the glued item is on waxy-feeling paper, it can't be recycled.
Thank you. I didn't know that😁
I love the way you don't waste anything at all! Looking forward to seeing those vinyl pieces and the hooks in a later project. You're a sewper hero!
Thanks so much Bonnie. I just uploaded a video using the vinyl tonight. I've kept the hanger for a future project😀
Christine, liquid beeswax works great to remove glue from vinyl (and plastics) or other surfaces where you can't use nail polish remover
Thanks for the tip Katrien😀
The hook would make a great peg bag for your laundry pegs😊
That's a great idea Patricia. Thank you😁
@ChristinesHomeAffairs sharing is what it's all about, and thanks to you for such an abundance of knowledge that you share with us love the videos always learn something 😊
In the US, I use Goof Off to remove stickers and goo …. Love all your bag projects - my favorites to make as well!
Goof Off is a fast, great product. I have found almost any oily product with degrade the glue. In a thrifty, pinch I have used icky smelling hand lotion, Crisco vegetable shortening ( hard stuff for pie crust) I save good stuff like nut butters for eating. A wash afterwards with Dawn dish detergent works for me Love your work ❤
Very interesting tips. Might make me a little hungry though🤣
Thanks for the tip Hope. I'll see if I can find some😁
The position of the camera is fantastic!!😊
Thank you Bea😁
